This is a very serious post—we will be discussing yogurt. I love all things coconut-flavored and protein-rich, so yogurt is a real staple for me, and I’ve been on a quest to find the best ones. I love it as a light and healthy breakfast, or a good afternoon snack choice. Finding the right yogurt for me depends on three factors: taste, protein-content, and sugar-content. It is also a plus to find something like Skyr’s that have probiotic qualities to stay super gut-healthy.

Norr Organics is so delicious, it is hard to believe something so creamy can be only 100 calories. I do not count calories, but this is a pretty astounding macro. I also love their story: they source their milk locally from a select few family farms in rural Pennsylvania. It tastes so fresh, like the perfect combo between a lower-protein, more pudding consistency yogurt and high-protein Greek yogurt. Truly the best of both worlds. They are a small brand, so it is pretty difficult to find (I’ve only seen them in New York City), which is a huge drawback because I’d eat them every day otherwise. The vanilla is my favorite!

*They make flavors like strawberry, blueberry, etc. But I like their plain option with a bit of honey + fruit to sweeten!

This is undoubtedly the healthiest yogurt option out there. It is so high in protein with a thick and creamy texture. I have come to love the slightly sour taste because it is just so fresh and clean. A lot of yogurts overload the sugar, then you just feel like you’re eating dessert, but not this one. Adding berries, cinnamon, honey, or any other healthy accoutrement is the perfect balance between sweet and plain. A mainstay for sure!

Native Icelandic’s have been eating skyr for over 1,000 years, so there has to be something to it, and I am here to tell you, there is! Skyr goes through a more intensive straining process than other yogurts and has far more gut-health benefits given the live active cultures added during the formulation process. Skyr tastes so good and is so good for you. It is creamy and thick without losing its pudding-like consistency while also having substantial protein. I’ve tried a ton of their flavors, but I keep coming back to the coconut flavor. It’s just sensational, a serious favorite!
Yogurt Bowl Ideas & Recipes
I love a good yogurt bowl, if you can’t already tell. It is so fun to play with toppings, ingredients, and the perfect flavor combos. Honestly, no two yogurt bowls I make are ever the same just based on the availability of fruit I have, loving to try different granola/nut mixes, etc. So, below is a fun list of ingredients that are my favorite additions to yogurt!
Granola/Nut Mixes
Gluten-Free Granola from Whole Foods (bulk section)
Coconut Almond Granola from Whole Foods (bulk section)
Cherry Granola from Whole Foods (in containers by the pre-cut fruit section)
Macadamia Nuts
Pumpkin Seeds
Almonds
Walnuts
Dried
Cashews (Dark Chocolate covered ones if you’re feeling crazy-they’re so good)
Fruit
Raspberries
Blueberries
Strawberries
Pomegranate Seeds
Blackberries
Yellow Dragon Fruit (great for fiber, such a unique taste)
Cantaloupe
Honeydew Melon
Bananas
Pro tip: frozen fruit can be great for a chilly, slightly crunchy aspect!
Nut Butters
Almond Butter/Honey Roasted Peanut Butter from Whole Foods (fresh from the grinder)
ANY nut butter (I really love cashew, or anything with a cinnamon or maple twist) that doesn’t have palm oil or other seed oils
Coconut Butter is so delicious, creamy, and interesting too
Other
Cinnamon (so good, I always include, also has anti-inflammatory + antioxidant properties!)
Chia Seeds (I have a very specific chia seed recipe from my mum, but these are good just to throw in as well—let me know if you want to hear about it—its heaven!)
Bee Pollen (only thing to help my spring allergies!)
Dried Cranberries
Dried Raisins
TLDR; I am just a girl who loves yogurt, yogurt bowls, and a delicious breakfast! Let me know if you want more in-depth yogurt bowl recipes or my mum’s chia pudding recipe!
